Microsoft offers some discounts on many of its services and opportunities to use Microsoft Office for personal use on a limited number of computers and devices.

Office 365 and Office desktop versions
Available to: Faculty*, Staff*, and Students

UC San Diego students and faculty/staff in departments participating in the Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement are eligible to receive Office applications and other productivity software. Students must obtain UCSD affiliation through a UCSD email address.
The Office 365 suite includes access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Skype for Business, InfoPath, and OneDrive for Business.
You are able to install the software in up to 5 computers, 5 tablets, and 5 phones (including personal and work machines).

This product is already included with the enrolled department's CASA (formerly MCCA) order.
Download Microsoft Office
Employees covered under CASA are entitled to download MS Office on personal devices, including computers, iPads, and mobile devices. Follow these steps:
- Go to https://office.com and sign in using your AD credentials to access Microsoft Office apps online.
- After you log in, select the "Install Apps" dropdown located on the top right side of the screen and then select Office 365 apps or Other install options to download the apps.
By using this method, your Microsoft Office license is tied to your UC San Diego credentials. If you separate from the university, your Microsoft Office license will stop working.
Please note: accounts need to have the @ucsd.edu and not @eng.ucsd.edu or any other extension as this will cause issues with the installation/activation of the software.
Students
Download Microsoft Office 365 and enter your UC San Diego information.

Non-participating Faculty and Staff

Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an AI-powered productivity tool that integrates with Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. It leverages large language models (LLMs) and data from Microsoft Graph to assist users in drafting documents, summarizing emails, creating presentations, analyzing data, and generating insights. Copilot helps streamline workflows by automating repetitive tasks, providing contextual suggestions, and enhancing collaboration across various Microsoft 365 applications. Who qualifies for a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license
Users in departments enrolled in the UC San Diego Campus and School Agreement (CASA) can purchase the software. To use this software, you must have Office 365 enabled.
How to Order
- Submit a request through ServiceNow and include the end user’s email and the recharge information (Project, Task, and Funding Source).
- Our team will request a quote and order the license.
Azure for Students

Azure for Students is a Microsoft program that supports technical education by providing no-cost access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching, and research purposes, providing professional-level software and tools for educational institution use in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Design) and VIDA (Visualization, Illustration, Design, and Art) courses.
Pricing
Students may download 12-month software licenses at no charge. Students must obtain UCSD affiliation through a UCSD email address. UCSD Extension students are ineligible from participating in the Azure for Students program.
Ordering
Students are able to download software by setting up an account at: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students/ .
License
Students must be registered in at least one course offered by a participating STEM or VIDA department, and an administrator must create an account on Microsoft Azure.
Microsoft Select Individual Licenses
Available to: Faculty and Staff
Platforms: Macintosh and Windows
Select licenses are available for individual university-owned computers through Oracle's Dell Punchout. Licenses for windows upgrades will upgrade an existing OEM windows or Mac OS license only.
Pricing and Ordering
- Contact Dell(ucsd.licensing@dell.com) for a quote for the products you are looking for.
- Go to Oracle Financial System > Purchase Requisition> All Punchouts > Dell
- In the menu select Quotes
- Enter the quote number and the customer number (both listed in the quote they provided)
- Click Retrieve Quote
- Click View Details
- Click Create Order Requisition (green button on the top right of the screen)
- Click Next and ensure that the quote looks correct
- Click Submit Order Requisition and return to the Oracle Financial System
- Fill out the details for the Requisition and submit.
