Learn about confined space training for UC San Diego employees who may encounter a confined space in the course of their work.
Confined space training
Required for supervisors overseeing confined space work (as defined by Cal/OSHA) and employees who enter or provide support to co-workers in confined spaces. UC San Diego employees must:
- Attend training prior to assigning or performing confined space work
- Receive annual refresher training
How to get training:
Training is available as needed. Instruction time is 1 hour.

- Regulating agencies and current regulations
- Identified confined spaces at UC San Diego
- Hazardous atmospheric conditions
- Pre-entry procedures and equipment operation
- How to use atmospheric monitoring instruments
- Field calibration of monitoring instruments
- Entry logs and permits
- Emergency and rescue procedures
- Responsibilities of supervisors, employees, and Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S)
