2026 Summer Reminders

As summer employment activities ramp up, here are a few important updates and reminders for department HR contacts and student supervisors.  

  1. New admits and re-admit students for Fall 2026 can work at UC San Diego effective 6/13/2026 or after. These students will have access to Handshake and can apply for positions that are posted on or after 6/13/2026.

  2. Summer Student Employment: Other UC students may work during the summer months only (when Spring quarter ends and before the Fall quarter begins), remotely or onsite. 

    Non-UC students cannot be hired into casual-restricted student employment title codes. Please work with your talent advisor to identity alternative employment options. 

  3. All jobs for the 2025-2026 fiscal year will close on Handshake on 6/30/2026. We encourage you to review our full library of Handshake resources for further guidance.
