Learn how to use the individual abbreviated dial feature that allows you to program up to 10 frequently dialed telephone numbers on your dial-pad key 0 thru 9 to act as a speed dial (maximum 20 digits).
Note: The information on this page is generally applicable to most phone models at UC San Diego.
1. Make sure you have Feature Package 2.
- Feature Package 2 is required for individual abbreviated dial.
- If you don't have Feature Package 1, submit a Customer Service Request (CSR).
2. Start programming the abbreviated numbers.
- Lift the handset.
- Press * 5 1 *, the abbreviated number (0 – 9), and *
- Enter the actual telephone number (include 8 for an off-campus number).
- Press #.
- Listen for the confirmation tone — 3 beeps.
- After you hear the confirmation tone, hang up.
3. Make a call using one of your programmed numbers.
- Lift the handset.
- Press * * and the abbreviated number (0 - 9).
- The number you have programmed will be automatically dialed.
4. Change a programmed number.
- Follow step 1, above.
5. Cancel a single number.
- Lift the handset.
- Press * 5 1 *, the abbreviated number (0 – 9), and #
- Listen for the confirmation tone — 3 beeps.
- After you hear the confirmation tone, hang up.
6. Cancel all abbreviated numbers.
- Lift the handset.
- Press # 5 1 #
