The University of California has adopted the Small Business First Program changing procurement by an intentional effort to increase equitable contracting and procurement opportunities with certified Small Businesses (SBs), and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs) that have been challenged as a result of the pandemic. Agreement Suppliers
Competitive bids are not needed for contracts previously established through the strategic sourcing process, since the competitive bid requirement has already been satisfied. UC San Diego encourages its community to take advantage of strategically sourced contracts. Departments may make purchases under these contracts even if the value of the purchase exceeds $100,000.
