Steelcase Overview

The University of California finalized a contract with Steelcase, Inc. The information below provides a summary of contract information and a link to a step-by-step ordering process.

Furniture types covered by Steelcase

According to the Steelcase contract, when you buy the following types of furniture, you must buy Steelcase products only:

  • Tables, including conference room, meeting room, and office tables
  • Chairs, including task and side chairs
  • File cabinets
  • Free-standing steel and laminate desks
  • Bookcases
  • Paneled office systems

Other types of furniture may be purchased from either Steelcase or other vendors. Please see Furniture Overview for details.

How to buy Steelcase furniture: If you plan to purchase furniture from Steelcase, contact Steelcase Representatives to obtain catalogues, product literature and samples. Then follow step-by-step procedures that will help the buying process go smoothly.

Although this is UCSD's primary agreement for office furniture, if you believe you have reason to purchase furniture covered by this contract from a vendor other than Steelcase, please contact Alma Mendoza, (858) 822-4390. Alma will confer with Procurement & Contracts management to see if an exception can be made.
