Sustainable Criteria
The University of California’s Sustainable Procurement Guidelines (“Guidelines”) lay out the minimum for sustainability. See Table 1 - Category Specific Green Spend Criteria for Indoor Furniture.
Buyer tip: You must observe the State of California, Bureau of Home Furnishings and Thermal Insulation TB-133 (PDF) regarding furniture construction and fabrics when buying furniture for public areas such as the Price Center, libraries, classrooms, and faculty or student lounges. Ask the vendor for industrial- or institutional-quality products. Home-use quality is not recommended.
