Description: An extraordinary cultural experience to include lunch & performance(s) focused on celebrating and amplifying the diverse cultures, perspectives, and attributes in the range of communities/identities that exist across UC San Diego, with an emphasis on staff and faculty unified under an “I AM UC San Diego” theme. Instilling school pride and pride of workplace. This effort expands on and serves as a reimagined version of the Flavors of Diversity Luncheon previously coordinated by several affinity groups (BSA, CLS/A & PASA) pre-pandemic.

Get Connected: As part of this event, all Tritons are invited to share stories, strengths and personal attributes across social media platforms that connect you to UC San Diego using the hashtag, #iAmUCSanDiego

Cultural Tastings

Wristbands will be distributed at the entrance for those who registered for lunch. Wristbands will have 3 tabs and each tab is good for one tasting. Multiple food options are available this year, including vegetarian and vegan friendly choices.

Pozole Verde (Chicken) or Pozole Rojo (pork)

Sweet Jerk Chicken, Eggplant Curry (Vegan), Chicken Curry, Saffron Rice, Pilau (rice) Collard greens (vegan), plantains (vegan)

A Taste of Lao Paradise

Lao sausage, green papaya salad (veg), sticky rice (vegan)

Brisket or Ribs, and collard greens, red beans and rice (vegan) and Mac and cheese

Aji de gallina (shredded chicken in a creamy aji de amarillo sauce served with steam rice), or Ribeye Tallarines (noodles), or Vegetable Tallarines

Canadian Nanaimo Bars: Three layer bar of graham wafer with shredded coconut, custard,
and chocolate ganache
Polvorones Vegan: Mexican shortbread cookie with walnuts, rolled in powdered sugar
