The UC San Diego Lock Shop ensures the safety and security of campus facilities by establishing and maintaining Master Key and electronic access-control systems for all campus buildings.
Medical Center employees: For repairs and maintenance, including keys, call Facilities Engineering in Hillcrest, (619) 543-6454, 24 hours a day.
How to Request Key or Lock Changes
- To request key or lock changes, visit the FM customer portal
- You can check the status of your request by contacting the Customer Relations help desk, (858) 534-2930.
- Pick up your key(s). For security reasons, customers must pick up requested keys at the Customer Service Center, at the north entrance of Campus Services Complex, Building C (map). A parking space designated “Key Pickup” is available for your convenience.
Note: Due to the rising costs of material and labor, beginning July 1, 2024, all key requests will have a 30-minute minimum labor charge.
Other Services
Locksmiths perform preventive maintenance on door hardware and repair/replace locksets as needed. The Lock Shop performs these customer-funded services upon request:
- Provide security consultation and advise on appropriate access control systems to meet specific space and security requirements
- Maintain electronic UCID door card-swiping systems
- Cut keys
- Re-key doors, cabinets, and desks (Departments are responsible for all costs associated with key replacement and re-keying of locks, including replacement keys for Facilities Management.)
- Change combinations on safes
- Provide access for authorized users
