Positions at UC San Diego are classified based on the duties and responsibilities assigned and exercised. As duties and responsibilities change, the position may be reclassified.
Job Matrices
To create a job description:
- The Job Builder tool will be used to create job descriptions using the new Career Tracks titles
- Choose the specialty/function that best describes the majority of the work. Note: For hybrid or combination positions, the Information Systems specialty/function may be the most appropriate
- Customize the information to describe the individual position
Information Technology
In the new Career Tracks system, the Information Technology family of work is organized into different job specialties (called “functions”) in matrix format. Each matrix describes job responsibilities at different levels for non-represented positions.
