- SB 1100 Driver's License Requirements for Job Description-Effective January 1, 2025, California passed law (SB 1100 Discrimination: Driver's License) making it an unlawful employment practice for an employers to include a statement in various employment materials that an applicant must have a driver's license unless the employer reasonably expects the duties of the position to require driving and the employer reasonably believes that satisfying that job function using an alternative form of transportation would not be comparable in travel time or cost to the employer, as specified. Due to compliance requirement related to SB 1100, Compensation requires the department to submit a Driver's License Supplemental Form whenever a driver's license is a necessary qualification for a position under the Special Conditions of a Job Description.

- Policy Covered Job Codes Requiring a Valid Driver's License-The Career Tracks Steering Committee has identified policy-covered positions requiring a valid driver's license. Although these positions require a driver's license, the department must provide must provide additional justification that driving is an essential function of the job by completing the Driver's License Questionnaire. For represented positions, please refer to applicable class specification or job standards for further details.
