Days Fund Balance

The Days Fund Balance report displays resources available and total expenses at various levels of the Financial Unit hierarchy across campus, with a red/green indicator to show if the unit is within the Days Range guidelines.

The Days Fund Balance report is available from the Business Analytics Hub under the Financial Resource Management Dashboard. Standard Report Consumer roles are required to access. For more access information click here.

Business Scenarios

  • The Days Fund Balance report displays resources available and total expenses at various levels of the Financial Unit hierarchy across campus, with a red/green indicator to show if the unit is within the Days Range guidelines.
  • This report displays the estimated number of days that a Department can sustain its operations based on the Department’s total expenses.
  • The report only displays data for ‘Closed’ fiscal years. No data will be displayed for ‘Open’ fiscal years.
  • The report is formatted to display the last 3 'Closed' fiscal years, and the balances are as of 13_Jun-XX Accounting Period for the fiscal years displayed.
  • The report can be run for any Vice Chancellor level of the Financial Unit hierarchy.
  • Internal Loan Funds 13042, Recharge Operating Funds 12100, and Contracts and Grants Funds are excluded from this report.
  • Balances tagged as Faculty Portfolio are excluded from this report.

This report answers the following questions:

  • What are the Total Managerial Resources Available for my Vice Chancellor? For my School? For my Department? In what fiscal year?
  • What are the Total Expenses for my Vice Chancellor? For my School? For my Department? In what fiscal year?
  • Am I within the Days Range that is assigned to my Department? How many days can our Department currently sustain its operations based on our Department’s Total Expenses?
  • What is the Days Fund Balance Code assigned to my Department? A? B? C? D?
  • How have my Total Managerial Resources Available fluctuated from year-to-year?
  • How have my Total Expenses fluctuated from year-to-year?

How to Run

Respond to Prompts

Financial Unit

  1. The Financial Unit prompt is optional. Users may select any Vice Chancellor from the Financial Unit hierarchy, or leave the prompt unselected to run the report for all Vice Chancellors.
    1. The report can be run for a single, multiple, or all Vice Chancellors. Your Vice Chancellor selection will be indicated by a checkmark.

Once all Prompt selections are complete, click Finish to generate the report.

Report Views

To export the report in PDF, Excel, or CSV, click on the ‘HTML’ button in the toolbar and select your desired output.
