Self-Storage

Read about the Logistics Self-Storage facility at 7835 Trade St., Suite 100.

Logistics Self-Storage provides:

  • Secure, short term open warehouse storage space
    • Non-caged 100 sq. ft. spaces 
    • Accessibility 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday excluding UCSD holidays (spaces #A1-H4)
      • This is a locked warehouse area. To access the space go to 7835 Trade St. Ste 100. A Logistics employee will escort you to your storage space. 
  • A variety of locked unit sizes,
    • Cages range from 25 sq. ft. – 2,976 sq. ft.
    • A perimeter-monitoring security system
    • Accessibility seven days a week/ 24 hours a day (spaces #1-100)
    • Accessibility 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday excluding UCSD holidays (spaces #201-270)
    • A combination lock for your storage space

Rates

Note

As of October 2023, the rate per month for self-storage has increased from $0.79 per sq.ft. to $1.25 per sq. ft. The update to our fee structure is based on the approval of the Recharge Advisory Committee per the results of their thorough evaluation of our operating expenses. Your department's Project/Task/Funding Source will be recharged monthly.

Restrictions

  • A hazardous material is not allowed in the Self-Storage facility.
  • The facility is not available for personal use.
  • Items stored must not exceed the 8-foot tall caging.
  • Only authorized personnel will be given the access code onsite. Logistics will not give the access code to anyone who was not on the lease agreement or those who weren't given prior authorization. 
  • For warehouse storage, an escort is required.

Moving Services can relocate items to and from your location and storage unit. To initiate this service visit the Logistics Portal and fill out a Moving Services request form.

Availability

If you would like to request a new Self-Storage space, or you would like to get on the waitlist for a storage cage please follow the following steps:

Submit a case via the UC San Diego Services & Support portal and include the following:

  • Your name
  • Department name
  • Phone number
  • Preferred space size
  • Preferred dates

You will be notified when space is available for your department.

How to use the security system

Spaces #1-100: These spaces have 24/7 access and require a unique 5-digit access code. After you receive your code, see Step 1.

Spaces #201-270: These spaces are only available 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday (excluding UCSD holidays) and don't require a code. Please check in with the front office. 

Tip: Print these instructions and take them with you to Self-Store.

1. Enter your 5-digit access code.

  • On the door marked Logistics Self-Storage, look for a numerical key pad. Enter a "1," then your 4-digit access code, and lastly the "#" sign. 
  • An electric door latch will release and allow you to enter.

Note: All entrance activities, including the date and time of entry, are recorded via the access code.

2. Enter the Self-Storage facility and turn on the lights.

  • The storage facility has 3 sections:
    1. Ground floor (24-hour access)
    2. Mezzanine (24-hour access)
    3. Ground floor spaces #201-270 (Access 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday excluding UCSD holidays).
  • Find the 3 rotary dial light switches located to the left of the double doors on both levels. Rotate each dial switch clockwise, and a bank of lights will activate for 30 minutes.
  • Reset the timer at any time during the cycle. If not reset, the lights will automatically shut off in 30 minutes.

3. Use the dockside roll-up freight doors on the ground floor.

After you enter the storage facility via the front access door, you may open any or all of the roll-up doors. No additional access (keypad) entry is necessary.

4. Use the freight only elevator for freight access to/ from the mezzanine lev.

Operating instructions are available at the elevator.

5. Avoid activating the silent alarm.

Note: If you hear a high pitched buzzing sound, this is a warning that the silent alarm is about to be activated.

  • To avoid activating the silent alarm:
    • Go to the nearest keypad.
    • Enter your access code.
    • Press # or enter.

If you fail to follow these instructions, the police will be called.

6. Do not open the Emergency Use Only rear access door.

The Emergency Use Only rear access door is for emergencies only. If opened, a silent alarm is activated.

7. Close all Doors and Dispose of Trash

  • Once finished in your cage you are required to close all roll up doors and access doors before leaving.
  • To dispose of recycled cardboard or paper material, there is a roll off dumpster located at dock door #9. Please put materials in this bin
  • To dispose of trash there is a dumpster located in front of dock door #7
