Academic Technology Services (ATS) provides technology services, support, and resources to the UC San Diego academic community, facilitating research, teaching and learning in service of the university's mission. Academic Technology Innovation
Team Lead: Paul Jamason
Academic Technology Innovation (ATI) provides robust technical architecture, development, and integration for the ATS suite of educational technology services. ATI creates and maintain innovative instructional support applications, including the Data Science and Machine Learning Platform (DSMLP).
Educational Infrastructure Systems
Team Lead: Sean Osterthaler
Educational Infrastructure Systems (EIS) is responsible for the configuration, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of student computing environments campuswide. EIS manages physical and remote/cloud-based computing labs and software to support instruction.
Instructional Technology Solutions
Team Lead: Katherine Collins
Instructional Technology Solutions is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience through administration, training, and hands-on support for a suite of instructional technology platforms, including the campus learning management system and integrated companion tools.
Media Services
Team Lead: Robin Martin
Media Services supports faculty and students in creating and utilizing multimedia content to enhance teaching, learning, and creativity. These services include:
Multimedia Services (MMS): Production of instructional video, including consultation on conceptualization, recording, editing, and publishing to integrate multimedia into classroom instruction.
Media Teaching Lab (MTL): A hands-on facility offering access to professional-grade equipment and editing software. MTL provides training, workshops, and resources for video production, sound design, and other media-related skills, fostering creativity and technical proficiency for academic projects.
Research IT Services
Team Lead: Cyd Burrows-Schilling (interim)
Research IT Services (RITS) provides a full range of Research Computing and Data (RCD) support and services to faculty, research staff, postdoctoral and graduate and undergraduate students, throughout all academic departments, schools and divisions. We provide direct engagement and resource recommendations to faculty, assist in integration of new technologies in the lab, develop demos and proofs of concept for researchers, and provide advanced cyberinfrastructure and cloud services consulting. We coordinate with other campus technology providers (including ITS, SDSC, Calit2, the Library), the Schools, Divisions, Departments and labs, the Office of Research Affairs, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions directly to researchers. Research IT offers our support to move research forward at no cost to the researcher.
