Academic Technology Services
Director: Valerie Polichar
Academic Technology Services provides technology services, support, and resources to the UC San Diego academic community, facilitating research, teaching and learning in service of the university's mission. Our efforts are grounded in a commitment to quality, collaboration, customer focus, innovation, and inclusiveness. We have two primary customer-facing teams, Educational Technology Services (ETS) and Research IT Services. Rounding out our area are an architect/analyst (Adam Tilghman) and an integration team (led by Paul Jamason) who support innovative academic technology.
Educational Technology Services
Team Lead: Daniel Suchy
Educational Technology Services (ETS) provides administration, training, and support for a suite of integrated instructional technology tools, including the campus learning management system, computing and software resources, classroom technology, and creation of online courses. ETS also includes the Media Teaching Lab, dedicated to providing students with outstanding media production facilities, equipment, and technical assistance.
Research IT Services
Team Lead: Claire Mizumoto
Research IT Services provides a full range of Research Computing and Data (RCD) support and services to faculty, research staff, postdoctoral and graduate and undergraduate students, throughout all academic departments, schools and divisions. We provide direct engagement and resource recommendations to faculty, assist in integration of new technologies in the lab, develop demos and proofs of concept for researchers, and provide advanced cyberinfrastructure and cloud services consulting. We coordinate with other campus technology providers (including ITS, SDSC, Calit2, the Library), the Schools, Divisions, Departments and labs, the Office of Research Affairs, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions directly to researchers. Research IT offers our support to move research forward at no cost to the researcher.
