About Us
Business Transformation and Optimization (BTOp), a value stream within Business and Financial Services (BFS), leading high performing teams to develop, facilitate and implement programs, projects and initiatives that transform and optimize our organization and the way we do business. Essential to our mission is a change management strategy to align People, Process and Technology initiatives more closely with our organization’s strategic vision. The units that are part of this value stream have expertise in Program and Project Management, Change Management, Communications, Training, Workforce Optimization, Process Improvement and Financial, Budget and Payroll Management.
The Project Management & Business Integration (PMBI) division designs enterprise-wide program solutions - programs impacting at the UC system-wide level and the local UC San Diego level - and coordinates the integration of these solutions into campus business systems. Staffed with program and project managers, business analysts and subject matter experts PMBI transforms strategic business process improvement initiatives into functional and operational systems ready for deployment. Currently serving as the PMO for the UC system-wide UCPath initiative.

Initiatives
PUM Upgrade Project Purpose
We are working on upgrading UCPath to the latest Oracle Version (Version 37).
- Improve stability, reducing support efforts
- Address compliance gaps that are being managed manually
- Provide ACA support, eliminating manual UCPath processes
- Next Round of Upgrades:
- Expand functionality to reduce manual work or eliminate customizations
- Improve usability, streamlining data entry activities
- Adoption of new “Fluid” user interface / enable new functionality
What campus needs to know:
- Project Timeline: January to December 2021
- Future upgrades are anticipated on a yearly basis
