Sustainable Supply Chain

The partnership will help transform the carbon footprints of UC San Diego and Thermo Fisher Scientific with a sustainable supply chain for research supplies, and by increasing the use of environmentally friendly alternatives to commonly used materials and solutions, efforts aligned with UC San Diego's goal of achieving zero waste and Thermo Fisher's ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Future program initiatives being explored include plastic recycling programs, expanded use of Thermo Fisher’s 100% paper cooler to eliminate hard to recycle EPS plastic foam packaging for temperature-sensitive deliveries to campus, and other more sustainable packaging and product delivery systems.
