Secure Connect
Secure Connect is an initiative that builds on UC San Diego’s existing cybersecurity measures and addresses cybersecurity expectations issued to all UC locations by President Drake.
In February 2024, UC President Drake and the UC Regents called on every UC location to meet a list of minimum outcomes in order to improve the UC systemwide posture on cybersecurity (read the full letter from President Drake). These outcomes, which are due to be in place by May 28, 2025, will require every member of the UC system to engage in cybersecurity efforts.
UC San Diego’s response to this systemwide effort is the Secure Connect program. This program builds on the cybersecurity measures currently in place through educational and technical improvements.
Security Outcomes

A Joint Effort
The Secure Connect program is a joint effort of UC San Diego’s IT Services, the Computer Security Operations Group (CSOG), departmental IT staff and Health Information Services, with oversight by the Cybersecurity Governance Committee and the Faculty Steering Committee. While we coordinate our efforts with UC San Diego Health, our solutions and implementations will vary. The School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health will follow UC San Diego Health requirements. To learn more visit Health's Secure Connect website.
Engage With Secure Connect
As we continue developing solutions and gathering input, every member of the UC San Diego community will play a role in this effort. There will be numerous opportunities and avenues to share your feedback and have your questions answered. Updates and more detailed information will be shared as they become available via this website and through a variety of communications (email, webinars, etc.).
