About Us
Gift & Foundation Accounting supports UC San Diego’s mission by ensuring accurate financial management of philanthropic funds. The team records and reports all gifts, pledges, endowment payouts, and investment activity for both UC San Diego and the UC San Diego Foundation. We maintain the Foundation’s financial records, produce annual statements, and ensure compliance with university, UC Office of the President, and accounting standards.
What We Do
Gift & Foundation Accounting records and reports all philanthropic funds received by UC San Diego and the UC San Diego Foundation. We manage the Foundation’s full set of books—including endowments, investments, and audits—and ensure compliance with UC policy, IRS regulations, and accounting standards.
Our team partners with campus departments, fiscal officers, and development staff to ensure gifts and endowments are managed responsibly and transparently. We provide guidance and reporting that help departments align spending with donor intent and university requirements.
Our work includes:
- Recording and reconciling gift and pledge revenue in accordance with UC and GASB/GAAP standards
- Processing endowment payout and related financial reporting for both entities
- Maintaining accurate fund balances and supporting campus units in the appropriate use of Foundation and Regents gift funds
- Preparing financial statements and reports for the UC San Diego Foundation Board of Trustees and university leadership
- Ensuring compliance with UC policy, IRS regulations, and donor restrictions
- Managing the UC San Diego Foundation’s full set of books, including investments, endowments, and annual audits
- Supporting audits, reconciliations, and financial analysis for Foundation and gift fund activity
