Cashiering Services Overview

UCSD departments can make deposits and exchange cash and currency at the Central Cashier's Office.

Central Cashier's Office

The Central Cashier's Office is located in University Center, Building 402, Suite 170 in the Student Services Center (map). The office is normally open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Departments can continue to send their deposits to the Central Cashier's Office via:

  • U.S. Mail
  • campus mail
  • our dropbox located on our south wall along Rupertus Lane
  • hand deliver the deposit to the Vault Custodian

 

At the Central Cashier's Office, departments can:

Make deposits

If your department receives payments in the form of cash or checks, you can deposit all payments at this office. See Before You Make a Deposit for details on good deposit practices.
Note: Before you can make deposits for your department, you must obtain an endorsement stamp to use on the backs of checks.

 

Order currency and coin

Change orders can be filled while you wait, or you can order your change in advance by submitting your order on the Services & Support portal. For additional information, see Currency and Coin Denominations and How to Order Currency and Coin.

Check Cashing

Departmental petty cash checks

The Central Cashier's Office will cash departmental petty cash fund checks:

  • The check must be properly endorsed
  • This may be done in person or via police transport
  • A UCSD ID is required to do this in person

Personal, non-university-related checks

The Cashier's Office does not cash personal, non-university-related checks.

University checks

The Central Cashier's Office will cash University checks on an exception basis under special circumstances. Please contact the Cashier Manager for additional information.
