Cashiering Services: Before You Make a Deposit
Read the information below before you make a deposit at the Central Cashier's Office.
When to make deposits
If your department receives payments in the form of cash or checks, submit these payments immediately to the Central Cashier's Office. If you hold cash or checks, you increase the chances for loss by theft or through stale dates or closed accounts. In addition, late deposits can result in a loss of interest income to UCSD.
Where to make payments and deposits
Payments and deposits can be made at the Central Cahier's Office located in the Student Services Center, Suite 170 (map). The lobby hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Payments can also be dropped in the Cashier's Drop Box located on the street side of the office (Rupertus Lane), also by U.S. Mail and Campus Mail.
Foreign currency and banks
Avoid accepting payment in foreign cash and checks written on foreign banks. Accepting payments only in U.S. cash or checks written on U.S. banks helps avoid delays and potential extra charges. For example, your department would have to pick up extra charges caused by delays or losses in currency exchange rates. See How to Complete a Deposit Advice Form for more information.
Checks you deposit must

- Be completed for the proper amount
- Be signed
