Staff Mentorship Program

Mentor and Mentee

Learn how mentees are matched with seasoned staff mentors to formulate and begin acting on a career plan. Meetings are once a month, for about an hour, over six months.

Purpose

The Career Connection Staff Mentorship Program provides the opportunity for seasoned staff to share their knowledge and experiences with Career Connection participants to ensure that they will be equipped for the next phase of their training by developing a career path that readies them to become leaders or to excel in their chosen field.

UC San Diego (Campus, UC San Diego Health System, and Scripps Institution of Oceanography) has a workforce of over 20,000 employees located throughout San Diego.

Launched in 1996, the mentorship component of the Career Connection program matches staff mentors and mentees based on their interests and experiences, and provides assistance with goal setting, job satisfaction, job enhancement and lateral or upward mobility.

The Fall 2017 session will begin on October 2, 2017. The deadline to register for this session is Thursday, September 28, 2017. All mentee registrations received after this date will be included in the Spring 2018 session.

Duration: Participants will meet with their mentor once a month, for about an hour, over a period of approximately six months. Matches are made twice yearly (once for the Spring/ Summer session and again for the Fall/ Winter session).
