There are 2 types of accounts commonly used at UC San Diego.
Active Directory (AD)
Active Directory (AD) is for access to email, the UCSD-PROTECTED wireless network, Virtual Private Network (VPN), computer labs, and TritonEd. Active Directory accounts are used by faculty, staff, students, and some affiliates.
Faculty, Staff, Affiliates
- Your Active Directory account will be set up automatically by your department. Contact your supervisor for assistance.
- If you don't remember your password or need to change it, follow the instructions on the Active Directory Password Change Tool.
Students
- Your Active Directory account will be setup automatically. See Activate and Access your New Student Account for more information about when your account will be setup and how to access it.
- If you don't remember your password or need to change it, follow the instructions on the Global Password Change Tool.
Business Systems
Business Systems (sometimes referred to as Single Sign-On) is for access to business tools such as the link family, MyServices, and other central applications. Business Systems accounts are used by faculty, staff, and some affiliates.
- You must self register for a business systems account.
- If you don't remember your password, or need to change it, follow the instructions on Reset Your Business Systems Password.
