New Password Troubleshooting

Having trouble with your new password? Sometimes there can be a slight delay before the new password takes affect. If you've given it some time and are still having trouble try the steps below.

  1. If you went directly to password.ucsd.edu to change your password and use a university-issued computer, follow these steps to sync computer login with your new AD password:
    • Windows computer users:
      1. Press Ctrl, Alt and Delete
      2. Select Change a password
      3. Enter your Old Password, New Password and Confirm the new password.
    • Mac computer users:
      1. Go to the Apple menu, select System Preferences…
      2. In System Preferences, select Users & Groups:
      3. Click Change Password
  2. Close all open applications and restart the device.
  3. Check the Frequently Asked Questions for solutions to known issues.
  4. Contact your IT staff for assistance.
