You must secure access to the mainframe by configuring your software to use a protocol for protecting data.
If you have TN3270 software from Brown University on your Macintosh computer with Operating System 8 or 9, follow the steps below.
1. Install JStunnel.
- Start the download, and choose the folder where you want to save it.
Note: Be sure to remember the name of the folder where you saved the file. - Close the Download Manager window.
- Double-click JSTunnel Installer in the folder where you saved it.
- Click Continue on the InstallerMaker screen.
- Choose the folder where you want to install it.
- Click Yes when the restart warning appears. When the installation is complete, click Restart.
2. Modify TN3270 for Mac OS 8 or 9 from Brown University.
- Start TN3270.
- Enter 127.0.0.1 as the hostname.
- Click Open Connection.
- Click File at the top and Save Default Settings. The Save Host Name box must be checked (window position is optional).
- Click OK.
- You now have a secure connection. Future access will automatically use the secure protocol. You may notice a slight delay when you open the session.
