How to Install JStunnel for Mac OS 8 or 9

You must secure access to the mainframe by configuring your software to use a protocol for protecting data.

If you have TN3270 software from Brown University on your Macintosh computer with Operating System 8 or 9, follow the steps below.

1. Install JStunnel.

  • Start the download, and choose the folder where you want to save it.
Note: Be sure to remember the name of the folder where you saved the file.
  • Close the Download Manager window.
  • Double-click JSTunnel Installer in the folder where you saved it.
  • Click Continue on the InstallerMaker screen.
  • Choose the folder where you want to install it.
  • Click Yes when the restart warning appears. When the installation is complete, click Restart.

2. Modify TN3270 for Mac OS 8 or 9 from Brown University.

  • Start TN3270.
  • Enter 127.0.0.1 as the hostname.
  • Click Open Connection.
  • Click File at the top and Save Default Settings. The Save Host Name box must be checked (window position is optional).
  • Click OK.
  • You now have a secure connection. Future access will automatically use the secure protocol. You may notice a slight delay when you open the session.
