System Status:

Using Non-UC San Diego Email as UC San Diego Email

Using your Non-UC San Diego email account to send-as your UC San Diego email address is not recommended.

Note that forwarding your UCSD email to a non-UCSD email address (your personal Gmail, Hotmail, etc) is not recommended. As more organizations are enforcing email security protocols, this forwarding will break. For example, the Department of Homeland Security and all of the agencies working with them, have implemented a policy that prevents the forwarding of email. Find out More information.

If you do decide to set up an external email service to send-as your @ucsd.edu email address, you will need to find the settings to configure an external mail relay.  If this external account is gmail, the instructions can be found on Google.

You will need to configure the smtp server to be SMTP.UCSD.EDU and then use your AD username and password.
