Select appropriate coverage for vessels or watercraft from the programs below.
Marine liability and loss coverage is available by request through the university's self-insurance program. Read about the different types of coverage below:

Vessels under 30 feet
Small watercraft liability insurance for vessels under 30 feet.
Program details:
- Mandatory coverage
- Contact Risk Management, (858) 246-0369, for current rates on yearly premium charge.
- No deductible
- Initiate coverage or make changes with the Marine Insurance Change Request form
Vessels 30 feet and over
Protection and indemnity (P&I) liability insurance for vessels 30 feet and over.
Program details:
- Mandatory coverage
- Contact Risk Management, (858) 246-0369, for current rates on yearly premium charge.
- Deductibles: $1,000 per occurrence
- Any changes to the deductible and premium must be approved by the marine insurance company. Contact Risk Management, (858) 534-2454, to obtain approval.
- Initiate coverage or make changes with the Marine Insurance Change Request form
Charterer's legal liability
Program details:
- Mandatory coverage for vessels chartered by the university when additional liability protection is needed
- Coverage for non-employees (i.e., guests, visitors) on vessels chartered by the university

Yacht (hull) physical damage insurance
Program details:
- Optional coverage
- Review the values of the yachts and trailers being covered and determine if you want or need this optional insurance.
- Example 1: If the value of a yacht or trailer is less than the deductible, DO NOT purchase this insurance.
- Example 2: If more than one yacht or trailer could be subject to the same occurrence, DO purchase this insurance.

- Deductibles:
- Yachts – $250 per occurrence
- Trailers – $100 per occurrence
- Oars – $250 per occurrence
Motors and oars must be listed separately.

Marine ridership
Program details:
- Optional coverage for accidental medical and accidental death and dismemberment for non-employee passengers on university vessels
