ONR Funding Sources
Some suggestions of where to locate funding include:
Pre-Proposal Inquiry to ONR by PI
- ONR encourages telephone inquiries to the technical point-of-contact who most closely matches the proposed research's discipline before a formal proposal is submitted.
- Short, informal proposals or letters of intent may also be submitted.
Post-Submission Steps
- The ONR Program Office will review the proposal. The Program Officer will contact the Principal Investigator to discuss the proposal, if necessary.
- A final decision is made by the Program Office. In some cases, notification is sent to the Principal Investigator with a copy to the Sponsored Projects Office (SPO).
- The Program Officer assigns Change Request (CR) and Naval Research Information System (NAVRIS) numbers to a proposal that will be recommended for funding. The PR Number is used to track the pending award through the ONR procurement system.
