Terms & Conditions

  1. UC San Diego Self-STORE will provide padlocks for individual storage cage(s).
  2. Caustic, explosive, or flammable chemicals; gases or liquids; perishables; foodstuffs; hazardous materials; or equipment containing such materials will not be placed in the UC San Diego Self-STORE facility.
  3. Tenants will exercise reasonable care in the use of the UC San Diego Self-STORE facility. Damage to the facility or any equipment provided, other than reasonable wear, will be the responsiblity of the tenant causing such damage. Any tenant causing damage will report such damage by submitting a Services & Support ticket to UC San Diego Self-STORE.
  4. This agreement will remain in force from the Period of Performance (PoP) start date to the PoP end date, or until a cancellation request is received by UC San Diego Self-STORE. Billing will continue through the end of the month in which the cancellation is completed at a prorated rental rate.
  5. Contents left after the PoP end date will become property of UC San Diego Self-STORE to be sent to Surplus Sales or disposed of accordingly.
  6. The financial unit's default project will be charged if the chargestring on file ever becomes invalid and an alternative chargestring is not provided by the last business day of the following month.

I need storage space. How soon can I store my items?

Depending on availability, you may be able to store your items into a cage or space within the same week you submit a Self-STORE Interest Form.

Are Self-STORE cages/spaces available for personal staff or student use?

No. Since Self-STORE is a self-supporting recharge unit of Logistics, we are only able to offer our services to campus departments with valid project and task numbers.

What is the current rental rate for Self-STORE cages and spaces?

As of October 2023, Self-STORE's rates are $1.25 per square foot per month. These rates are reviewed and approved by the Recharge Advisory Committee based on a detailed evaluation of our opertaing expenses and are updated every few years.

Do I need to renew my rental agreement annually?

No. Self-STORE cages and spaces remain active until the Rental Agreement termination section has been completed. However, Self-STORE may contact you on an annual basis to confirm contact and billing information at up to date.

Do I need to create a new blanket PO for my storage cage/space?

No. Self-STORE is a recharge unit so the monthly rental fee is charged directly to the project and task we have on file. A PO is not necessary for Self-STORE rental fees.

Who has access to my locked cage?

All locked cages are accessible to the Self-STORE team, the Moving Services team, the cage's point of contact, and any authorized users. Updates to the point of contact and/or auhtorized user(s) must me made by an existing authorized user by submitting a ticket to Budget & Finance via Services & Support.

How long are rental agreements enforceable?

Rental agreements are enforceable beginning on the Period of Performance (PoP) start date through the PoP end date. Self-STORE cages and spaces can be terminated at any time once the cage is empty.

How do I close out my Self-STORE cage/space?

Self-STORE cages and spaces can only be closed out once the cage/space is fully vacated. Please contact Moving Services or Surplus Sales to clear our your cage/space. For shredding services, please contact Iron Mountain, or your preferred shreadding vendor, and coordinate with them directly.

Does Self-STORE provide shredding services?

No. Self-STORE does not provide shredding services at this time. Please contact Iron Mountain, or your preferred shredding vendor, and coordinate with them directly.
