Reimbursable Move/Relocation Expenses for Employees

Find out what types of moving/relocation expenses are reimbursable for eligible UC San Diego employees.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please make sure to expand each section to ensure that your employee is eligible for reimbursement for the different types of allowable expenses.

Payment of expenses is only possible when a move has been approved by the appropriate authority, costs are deemed reasonable and necessary, incurred during the employee's move, and properly supported by original invoices and receipts.

Moving Expenses: Reasonable expenditures for transporting the appointee, members of their household, household goods and personal effects from their former primary residence to their new primary residence.

Relocation Expenses: Reasonable expenditures other than moving expenses incurred in the process of relocating the appointee and members of the appointee's household to the location of the appointee’s new appointment (e.g. house hunting trips, return trips to the employee’s former residence, etc.).
