Google Groups: For Email List Managers
Google Group managers, learn about Google Groups.
Google Groups
UCSD uses Google Groups for creating mailing lists. Using the Google Groups interface, you can configure dozens of options for the Groups you manage. Google automatically reduces spam and keeps Groups clean.
Getting Started
- Complete this form to request a new Group
- Review this document for instructions and FAQs
Acceptable Use Policies
All Google Groups must have at least one owner who is a current UC San Diego student, faculty, or staff and have an @ucsd.edu email address listed.
Owners agree to properly maintain their Google Groups. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Removing invalid member email addresses
- Tending to held messages or subscription requests at least weekly
- Limiting the amount of spam that is distributed to list members
These procedures are important because they help keep email flowing smoothly and keep us from being identified as a source of spam. If owners do not follow these procedures, they risk having their Google Groups disabled. Information Technology Services will issue advance warning before disabling occurs.
