Find out about requirements for temporary and special event food facilities at UC San Diego, and follow links to online forms.

Process Update Effective April 29, 2026

Permits and Modules – For reservations made on or after April 29, 2026, Food Permits must be completed through the Triton Reservation and Event System (T-RES). If the reservation was made outside of T-RES, select the option “I need permits for an existing reservation.” For reservations made on or before April 28, 2026, please continue using the existing Food Permit form and process.

For CSI-Registered Student Organizations #8211; New event, permit and request processes for CSI-Registered Student Organizations will be rolling out before the fall quarter of 2026. Until that time, there are no changes to the current Food Permit process.

A Temporary Food Facility Permit is required for public events where food is sold or given away.

Temporary food facilities may be operated for a maximum of 10 days per quarter, with no more than 30 days per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Internal office potlucks and invitation-only events are generally excluded from these requirements because they are considered private.
