Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)
Read about UC San Diego's Sewer System Management Plan.
Purpose
UC San Diego developed and is implementing a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) to properly manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the sanitary sewer system under campus control. The SSMP will help reduce and prevent sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and mitigate SSOs if they occur.
Sewer System Management Plan
UC San Diego is committed to maintaining a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible campus infrastructure. The Campus Sanitary Sewer Management Plan (SSMP), outlines the procedures and best practices for operating and maintaining the sanitary sewer system to prevent releases into the environment and to comply with State Water Resources Control Board regulations. We invite all members of the campus community—students, faculty, staff, and affiliates—to review the 2025 updated SSMP and share feedback.
