The Outbound Shipping team can assist with lost or damaged outbound shipments. Review the information below to learn more about what to expect when your outbound shipment is either lost or damaged.
Contact the Outbound Shipping team immediately through Services & Support and provide:
- Logistics Request Form number
- Shipping date
- Tracking number
- Description of the loss or damage
- Photos of the damaged shipment (if applicable)
What to Expect for Damaged Shipments
Once the Outbound Shipping team has been notified of a damaged shipment, our team will:
- Contact the recipient to confirm the damage and ensure all packaging materials and paperwork are kept.
- Request a carrier inspection and submit an Intent to File a Claim.
- File a formal claim after the inspection is completed.
- Forward inspection and claim documentation to UC San Diego Risk Management for review.
What to Expect for Lost Shipments
Once the Outbound Shipping team has been notified of a lost shipment, our team will:
- Contact the carrier to place a trace on the shipment.
- File a claim with the carrier if the shipment cannot be located.
- Forward the final claim report to UC San Diego Risk Management once the claim process is complete.
