What is the Leadership Development Coaching program?
In partnership with your coach, you (the coachee) will engage in individualized coaching sessions focusing on your professional interests and goals. Your coach will ask you questions, provide feedback, and help you explore strategies to overcome obstacles and setbacks. While every coaching engagement is unique, some of the key features include:
- Exploration and refinement of your leadership and/or professional development goals
- Strategies and resources to test and try out
- Assessment-based guidance to help you take action
- A coordinated effort amongst you, your coach, and your department sponsor
- A confidential environment with a coaching professional who is invested in your leadership journey
How is this program structured?
UC San Diego’s Leadership Development Coaching Program is a multi-month commitment, personalized according to the coachee’s goals. During the standard 4-6 month duration, all engagements include:
- Seven one-hour 1:1 coaching sessions
- Alignment conversations with the coach, coachee, and sponsor to inform individualized coaching plan
- Up to two leadership and/or personality assessments (from a select list)
- Virtual sessions to allow for maximum schedule flexibility
- Post-engagement resources and recommendations to support continued progress
What topics might I explore with coaching?
You, your coach, and your department sponsor outline the engagement goals during the alignment conversation phase at the onset of the engagement. Sample coaching areas of focus include:
- strategic leadership
- effective communication
- decision making
- team building
- interpersonal dynamics
- career trajectory
- leadership brand
- executive presence
Who might be best suited for this coaching program?
