The steps below are general guidelines for filing a complaint or grievance.
If you need more information about filing a complaint or grievance, contact your supervisor, union representative, or Labor Relations.
1. Review the complaint or grievance policies and procedures that apply to your job title code.
- Use one of these methods to identify your title code:
- Find it on your pay stub
- Check the Title and Pay Plan
- Contact Employee Relations, your supervisor, or your department HR contact
- If your position's title code is covered by Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM), review PPSM policy and the UCSD implementing procedures for complaint resolution.
- If your position's title code is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, review the applicable grievance procedure.
2. File a written complaint or grievance within the time limit.
Consult the PPSM or your collective bargaining agreement to find your specific filing time limit. Most time limits are 30 calendar days.
