Tracker I-9 Training Resources and Information

  • This 25 minute webinar provides information on I-9 compliance requirements and practical information for completing I-9 forms; including initial verification of work authorization, re-verification, and correcting errors on I-9s. New users to the ONBOARDING Solution & Tracker will be required to complete this course prior to receiving access to Tracker. 

Foreign National Work Authorization Auto Extension Workflows make it easier to capture and track required document information for certain foreign national employees. I-9 Managers can now easily document when a foreign national employee’s work authorization extends because:

  • EAD 180 Day Auto Extension: this guide shows how to create or update an I-9 that qualifies for an automatic 180-day work authorization extension based upon timely filed EAD renewal application Form I-765
  • EAD Cap Gap: this guide shows how to create or update an I-9 for a student employee with an Optional Practical Training (OPT) Employment Authorization Document (EAD) Form I-766 who qualifies for an automatic work authorization extension based upon timely filed Form I-129 petition for H-1B change of status (see Background Information below for more details)

Other Guides

When hiring a current or previous UC San Diego employee from another department, please email your designated VC area I-9 contact(s) to transfer the employee’s Tracker profile and I-9 to your worksite. Please include the following information:

 

  1. Employee Name (First and Last)
  2. UCPath ID Number
  3. Former/Departing Department Code
  4. New Department Code

When hiring a current University of California employee from UC San Diego Health or another UC Location, please complete INTER-Location I-9 Transfer Form to transfer the employee’s Tracker profile to your worksite. You will receive an email once the transfer is complete.

2) E-mail your designated VC area I-9 Administrator(s) to request access. Please provide a copy of your completed training certificate and list the department numbers that you need access to. 

Worksite IDs are your department number appended by 6. For example, if your department code is 000121, the unique Tracker worksite is 6-000121.
