What is 1Password?
1Password is software licensed by UC San Diego to provide secure password management for UC affiliates.
1Password enables you to only need to remember one password while providing the security of much more complex and hard to remember passwords. This is done using the 1Password browser plugin or app to generate complex passwords and securing them behind your SSO and Two-factor authentication.
Why is this important?
Account breaches can happen when using weak passwords or reusing old passwords/sharing passwords across accounts. 1Password simplifies your online life by remembering your passwords for you. With 1Password to manage your logins, it's easy to have a strong, unique password for every online account and improve your online security.
How safe is 1Password?
With 1Password, your data is encrypted and decrypted at the device level using AES-256 bit encryption. Data stored in your vault is kept secret, even from 1Password. Your SSO login information, and the keys used to encrypt and decrypt data, are never sent to 1Password’s servers, and are never accessible by 1Password. Additionally, adding Two-Factor authentication provides an extra layer of security for your 1Password account.
Who is eligible for a UCSD 1Password Business Account?
