Find out how to make a long-distance business call.
Note: effective January 5, 2015, most phones on campus will not require an authorization code for calls to numbers within the U.S. (local to UCSD La Jolla Campus and domestic phone numbers). International calls will still require an authorization code.
If you charge calls to more than one index, you will need an authorization code for each index.

1. Follow these steps to place a domestic long-distance call.
Without an authorization code, from a UCSD phone, dial 8 + area code + seven-digit number.
With an authorization code, follow these steps:
- Press * 6 *
- Enter your authorization code.
- Press # 8
- Enter the area code and the number.
2. Follow these steps to place a long-distance call to a foreign country.
- Press * 6 *
- Enter your authorization code.
- Press # 1 6
- Enter the country code.
- Enter the city code.
- Enter the number.
