AI Development Workgroup

Artificial Intelligence is fast-becoming part of our everyday work and campus life. As with any new technology, there are benefits, risks, and challenges to consider. The AI Development Workgroup (formally the AI Administration Workgroup) exchanges best practices of UC San Diego’s AI-related strategies, supports with resourcing, and ensures the safe application of AI across the university.

How the Workgroup supports campus:

  • Resourcing: Prioritizes and coordinates AI initiatives based on impact and the contribution to university strategy; Provides feedback on initiative efficacy, quality control and improvement processes; Avoids duplicate or wasteful procurement of technology.
  • Risk Management: Manages the risks associated with AI, including potential bias, safety, and ethical uses and ensures compliance with the University cybersecurity and privacy requirements.
  • Best practice sharing: Stays abreast of the portfolio of current AI solutions; Fosters an active community of practice for AI in university operations.
