The Tevis Award recognizes collaborative projects across UC locations or multiple departments at a single campus.

UC Tech 2022 was supported by nearly 100 planning committee members and on-site volunteers; roughly 25% came from campuses other than UC San Diego. In particular, 12 of 13 virtual stage managers who supported Zoom-based workshops came from other campuses; in total, 23 of 26 virtual sessions were managed or produced by non- UC San Diego volunteers.

The Tevis Award is part of the overall UC Tech Awards program, with recipients selected by a panel of CIOs. A small group, led by committee chairperson Miguel Rodriguez, was on hand to accept the award during the UC Tech conference the night of July 18.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized with a UC Tech Award,” commented Miguel. “We planned and executed UC Tech 2022 under trying and unique circumstances, including the waning months of Covid-19 pandemic. The upshot is, by planning the conference virtually, and including a strong hybrid/virtual component, we were able to engage a much larger and more diverse group of volunteers from nearly all UC locations. I feel this truly made our conference stronger, and exhibited the ideal state of teamwork we can achieve systemwide.”
