Web Proxy Service Ends

Web proxy access will no longer be provided for access to UC San Diego resources.

UC San Diego is decommissioning its Web Proxy server July 13, 2017. Web Proxy is used to access the university’s online resources from off-campus. This will affect those currently using the Proxy to access UC San Diego e-journals, e-books, databases, and electronic reserve materials.

There are several reasons UC San Diego is making this change. The current Web Proxy service does not transmit network credentials securely and there are better services that provide access from off-campus. Additionally, the infrastructure for the Web Proxy service has become obsolete and doesn’t provide the overall level of security required.

This change will not affect your on-campus access.
