Venue Managers Council

The Venue Managers Council provides a structured, collaborative forum for venue-management professionals at UC San Diego to share venue-use guidelines and best practices, support event planning standards, and align venue operations with university and system-wide policy and values.
Overview
The Venue Managers Council is a new collaborative forum for staff who have responsibilities related to managing venues and reservations for event and meeting spaces. The Council is designed as a forum to share best practices, learn about university policy and values, and encourage coordinated venue-use standards. It will provide networking, training and professional development opportunities focused on venue operations, the Triton Reservation and Event System (T-RES), and event management.
Key Council Highlights
- Objectives: Promote coordinated venue-management practices, foster communication, develop standards and tools, support training, and ensure T-RES policy compliance
- Membership: Open to all venue managers; related positions are also welcome
- Meetings: Quarterly meetings, rotating across campus or via Zoom; additional meetings may be convened as needed
- Resources & Deliverables: Knowledge-sharing sessions, policy feedback, risk mitigation, resource library, and consistent communications

Membership
Venue managers, reservation coordinators, and team members responsible for managing reservations, operations, and venues are invited to engage with the council. Subject-matter experts, including representatives from Safety, ADA Compliance, Risk Management, Fire Marshal, Facilities Management, Transportation and Parking, and many others, will be invited to participate in a consultative capacity by topic.
