Visiting Scholars at UC San Diego are required to have medical insurance coverage for themselves and  accompanying dependents through the period of their stay.

US Citizen and Permanent Residents should have an Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliant plan.

For International Visiting Scholars, UC San Diego works with Gallagher Benefit Services (https://clients.garnett-powers.com/vs/ucsd/) to ensure plans meet the Department of State guidelines. International Visiting Scholars can either purchase insurance through Gallagher or purchase external insurance and then waive the Gallagher insurance.
