Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)
What we do
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which helps campus* faculty and staff, all Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars, UC San Diego emeriti and retirees resolve concerns affecting personal well-being and/or job performance. Support for campus leaders, managers and supervisors; connections to local resources; and collaboration with HR units and other campus partners are also services provided by our team of licensed, professional counselors.
Note: Out-of-State/Out-Country Employees: FSAP services are available to in-state campus* employees only. If you are employed by UC San Diego and live outside of California or outside the United States, please contact your medical and/or behavioral health insurance company for a list of providers in your area.
*UC San Diego Health Sciences/UC San Diego Health System Employees: Please contact your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider aligned with your medical coverage. For additional information and questions about your benefits, please contact the UC San Diego Health Human Resources Services team at the protected employee portal: https://uchealth.service-now.com/hrportal or call (619) 543-3200.
FSAP is open for business with counselors working remotely during the campus response to COVID-19.
- All in-person meetings have been moved to Zoom or phone.
- New clients, please go to Make An Appointment
- Current and returning clients, please contact your counselor directly by phone or email.
- If you have a mental health emergency, dial the San Diego County Access and Crisis Line at 1-888-724-7240.
- The Lifeline and 988:
- New 988 Short Code: Starting on July 16, 2022, 988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
- The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is launched nationally.
Services include
- One-on-one information, support, and counseling
- Departmental behavioral consultation assistance
- Coordinating counseling services and activities, as well as directing faculty and staff to outside resources
- Educational workshops and support groups on a variety of topics
