Research Administration Training Program: Certificate Programs

Certificate Program All Levels

Level 1: Basic 

Target Audience: Entry-level professional with 0-3 years of experience who may need further learning in using professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity and developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. Offerings: Level 1 is offered three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring). Following are the specific dates for upcoming Level 1 offerings:

  • Winter 2018: January 23 - March 13 - Completed
  • Spring 2018: April 23- April 27 (Week Intensive) - Completed
  • Fall 2018: October 2, 9, 16 and 23 (Tuesdays) Registration now open

To register for Level 1: Basics

  • Step 1: Complete the Fundamentals of Sponsored Research at UC San Diego pre-requisite
  • Step 2: Go to Research Administration Training Program Level 1: Basics, click UCSD, and then sign into UC Learning
  • Step 3: Click on the "REGISTER" box. This will prompt the 2018 offerings to appear
  • Step 4: Click on the box of offering you would like to register for (Fall 2018) and select “Next” this will prompt the sessions to appear below; once the sessions appear you should be able to click “submit” to complete your registration

System Lab Electives: If you are interested and/or have a National Institutes of Health (NIH) heavy portfolio, you are welcome to register for one or all of the additional systems labs. These classes are electives and are offered in addition to the certificate program and are held in a computer lab. These are open to anybody and you are free to take the electives regardless of whether or not you take the certificate program. 

Level 2: Intermediate

Target Audience: Intermediate-level professional with 3-5 years of experience and/or have completed Level 1. The individual is capable of making simple judgments for typical tasks, may need further learning with complex or unusual tasks, or may need improvements in speed and flexibility. Offerings: Level 2 is offered three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring). Following are the specific dates for upcoming Level 2 offerings:

  • Winter 2018: January 23 - March 13 - Completed
  • Spring 2018: May 7 - May 11 (Week Intensive) - Completed
  • Fall 2018: October 3, 10, 17 and 24 (Wednesdays) Registration now open
  • Fall 2018 - 2nd Class Offering: October 4, 11, 18 and 25 (Thursdays) Registration now open

System Lab ElectivesThese classes are electives and are offered in addition to the certificate program and are held in a computer lab. These are open to anybody and you are free to take the electives regardless of whether or not you take the certificate program. 

Level 3: Experienced — In Development
