César E. Chávez Celebration Kickoff Luncheon

UC San Diego’s opening event includes awards honoring individuals for furthering César Chávez’s ideals in their communities and this year’s high school essay contest winners. Ticket are $7 for C/LSA members ($10 for non-members, $5 for students). Proceeds benefit MEChA’s Raza Graduation.

Volunteers needed!

C/LSA needs volunteers to work at the event as food servers, greeters, and ticket sales. Volunteers receive free lunch.

Cesar Chavez

Dr. Roberto Rodríguez to speak at the luncheon

Dr. Rodríguez, Assistant Professor of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona, is an award-winning journalist/ columnist. His current field of study is the examination of maize culture, migration, and the role of stories and oral traditions among Mexican and Central American peoples.

 Many of his awards are the area of defense of the First Amendment and human rights.
