Summary
Located at UC San Diego, SDSC engages millions of researchers, educators, students, and multi-sector partners every year through its five key areas of expertise:
- Computing Systems and Infrastructure;
- Turning Bytes into Knowledge;
- Accelerating Science through Training, Application, and User Support;
- Translating Research into Impacts; and
- Virtual Environments for Science.
SDSC operates within three geographic scopes:
- National – responding to the needs of a range of domestic stakeholders and federal agencies;
- State – protecting the California way of life with approaches to managing wildfires, drought, extreme weather and earthquake disasters; and
- University of California (UC) – providing the UC system and UC San Diego faculty and staff with computational and data resources to accelerate discovery.
