UCSD Passport Office Introduces Worksite Passport Processing and Notary Service for UCSD Staff with Disabilities. UCSD staff members with disabilities interested in utilizing our services can schedule an appointment by contacting the UCSD Passports Office at sscpassports@ucsd.edu or (858) 251-7865. 
- Passport processing times have gone down to 4-6 weeks for routine and 2-3 weeks for expedited.
- We will be open on the following Saturday(s): December 21st (appointment only)

The UC San Diego Passport Office is available to students, staff, faculty, and the greater San Diego community. The following services are available:

All applicants, whether first-time or renewing, are eligible to use the DS-11 passport application.

Parking

The Campus Services Complex Office is located in Building 'A' on Greenhouse Lane near the corner of Voigt and Gilman. There are four free customer parking spots in front of Mail Services on the north side of the building. Please park in a marked parking spot for Passport Services. Violators are subjected to getting towed or ticketed. There is additional parking located in Lot P501 next to our office and Lot P701 near the baseball field.

Application Requirements- Adults

  • A completed DS-11 application (in black ink and unsigned)
    • We are only accepting 2022 version of the DS-11, please ensure you do not have an application from an earlier date.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship: Original or Certified copy of Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization or a previous passport. 
  • Proof of Identity: Valid Driver License, State issued ID, Official U.S. military ID card or Government employee ID card.
    • If the Driver License or State issued ID is issued outside of California, another form of photo identification  is required. (e.g. Costco card, expired ID, school or work ID, etc.).
  • Two separate payments for each of the required fees:
    • Application fee- Check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State. Each application must have a separate check or money order. Card payments are not accepted for this fee
    • Execution fee- Credit card, cash, check, or money order payable to UC Regents. Can be combined into one payment for all applicants.
  • Applicants ages 16-17: One parent must be present. Both the applicant and the parent must bring valid photo identification.

Application Requirements- Minors (15 and under)

  • A completed DS-11 application (in black ink and unsigned)
  • Both parents must be present and show valid photo identification.
    • Photo identification includes valid driver license, state issued ID, official U.S. military ID card or government employee ID card.
    • If a parent can't be present, then Parental Consent is required (See below). 
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship: Original or Certified copy of Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization or a previous passport. 
    • Birth Certificate is required for minor applicants in addition to prior passport.
  • Two separate payments for each of the required fees:
    • Application fee: Check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State. Each application must have a separate check or money order. Ccard payments are not accepted for this fee
    • Execution fee- Credit card, cash, check, or money order payable to UC Regents. Can be combined into one payment for all applicants.

Application Fees

Passport applications require remittance of 2 separate payments- one payment is submitted with the application to the Department of State for the production of the passport book and/or card, the other is submitted to our acceptance facility for processing the application. Payments can be made only with check or money order, made payable to "Department of State." Separate payments must be submitted for each individual application

Additionally, the passport book may be returned with overnight mail service for an additional $21.36 per applicant.

Payments made to our office can be made with cash, credit card, and check/money order made payable to "UC Regents." For multiple applicants, the payment can be combined into one.

Processing Time:

Current routine processing takes 4-6 weeks and is subject to change depending on the volume of applicants. Expedited processing takes 2-3 weeks. Expedited services have an additional $60.00 fee per application. The fee for this service is payable to the U.S. Department of State in addition to application fees.
