Using a Card Reader

Find out how to use a card reader to pay for copies/prints made on your department machine.

Machines Equipped with Card Readers

The card reader system uses two types of cards.

  • A green copy card is available with proper authorization. This card can be associated with one or more OFC COAs. To obtain a green copy card, your department must complete an Application for a Department Green Copy Card (PDF).
  • A UC San Diego campus photo ID card can be associated with one or more OFC COAs, with proper authorization. This card can be used for copying on any Triton Print & Digital Media copier equipped with a card reader.

When you swipe either card through the card reader and enter an authorized OFC COA to include the Project Number – Task Number – Funding Source, if applicable, also known as POETAF. Dashes are required and the entire number must be entered unless it is all zeros. The system will validate the card and OFC COA before allowing you to make copies.

Departments must notify Triton Print & Digital Media of all OFC COA changes and personnel changes. To add or delete OFC COAs to either type of card, your department’s financial manager must submit an Add/Delete Index Numbers form (PDF).

OFC COA must include the Project Number – Task Number – Funding Source, if applicable, also known as POETAF. Dashes are required and the entire number needs to be entered unless it is all zeros.
