As part of UC's Strategic Sourcing initiative, a systemwide commodity team reviewed how the University acquires research and teaching microscopes, accessories and services, which resulted in three agreements that UCSD has adopted and implemented for campus use.

Leica Microsystems [Contract No. 2022003257]

• 4%-11% discount on items
• 4%-8% discount on services
• 2% spend rebate
• 5-year Initial Term, with five renewal options at UC discretion

Evident Scientific (formerly Olympus) [Contract No. 2022003254]

Contract Benefits:

• 14% discount on items
• 10% discount on services and extended warranties
• Lead Agency revenue from Omnia partnership
• Negotiated caps for annual rate increase
• 5-year Initial Term, with five renewal options at UC discretion
• Fixed pricing during initial term
• Terms and Conditions aligned with UC policy and laws

• 5% discount on items
• 5-10% discount on services
• Spend rebate of 30K for every $2M of sales
• Sustainability rebate of $50K annually, with an additional $50K for sales over $5M
